Day 4 - Monday, April 8 - Mount Carmel, Tel Hazor, Capernaum and surroundings

This day began rather hazy and with rain, so the view from Mount Carmel, as you see in the video overlooking the Kishon Valley, was not fantastic.

Then we left for the ruins of Tel Hazor. That was a Canaanite city, later fortified by Solomon, with a typical city gate layout, very suitable for defense.

Also very impressive was the water facility, where you descend to a well. Today I could not use my drone because the GPS does not work in this area in northern Israel, so could not take aerial photos.

Then we went to the mountain (more like a hill) Eremos, with a nice view of the Sea of Galilee. This is one of the places that Jesus is thought to have delivered the Sermon on the Mount, so an extensive garden was made of it.

We also went to Capernaum, which is very small and not inhabited. Most interesting is the synagogue from the 4th century, because if you look at the lower foundation it is believed to be from the first century or older, showing that this same synagogue, although smaller and in simpler form, is the same place where Jesus taught according to Mark 1 verse 21.

A boat trip on this same lake is very nice, and remains of a 2,000-year-old fishing boat have been found, which has been recreated as exactly as possible. These boats are on the lake in Tiberias, and our boatman talked about the features of the design and construction, how well it was designed back then.
